Common Questions
Q. What if my roof, siding, and windows are old?
A. The age of your property does not have an impact on whether you can file a claim. You have a Replacement cost policy on the dwelling as part of coverage A. This means that your insurance company will pay 100% (less your deductible) of the loss, as long as similar materials are used in the reconstruction, However, part of the cost will be withheld until the work is complete. This is a way for your insurance company to protect themselves from those who elect not to use the money for the purpose intended.
Q. What are the advantages of working with P.C.S. during the insurance claim process?
A. We help you, the policyholder by looking at your damage through the eyes of a contractor which helps provide accurate scope and costs for the repair of you damaged property. We speak the same language as your insurance company, and as such all of our estimates are created using industry specific terminology to help ensure there is no confusion between you and the insurance company.
Q. How much will it cost me?
A. There is no charge to the homeowner above the deductible, unless you choose to upgrade the materials. Property Claim Solutions offers payment plans to assist with deductibles.
Q. How long do I have to file a claim?
A. Although most insurance companies only allow a year or two past the date of the storm, prior claims may at times be re-evaluated beyond this time period. The effects of a storm can go unseen to the average homeowner. Roof damage can also take some weathering before it exposes the true impact of a storm.
Q. Can my insurance company drop me?
A. An insurance company cannot drop an insured for making a storm-related claim. It's classified as an "act of God." However, a history of filing claims could cause them to drop you.
Q. Will my insurance rates go up?
A. Yes. Premiums will be increased for everyone living in an area hit by a catastrophic storm, whether you file a claim or not.
Q. What are Property Claim Solutions' qualifications?
A. We are a general contractor specializing in insurance restoration. We have successfully agreed on and constructed over 30 million in property claims.
Q. What kind of warranty do I get?
A. Most workmanship warranties are two years per trade. Specific product selections can affect the material warranty.
Q. What if my insurance company has already assessed my property?
A. Property Claim Solutions will take in to account all of the damaged property, prepare an estimate, then compare it with the original settlement. If we find the work can be completed within your insurance company's estimate, we will do so. If we find they have overlooked or inaccurately priced anything, you can send it to your insurer and ask them to call us.
Tips for a Stress Free Experience
Property Claim Solutions wants your home restoration project to be as convenient for you as possible. That's why we've come up with a few suggestions to consider during your restoration:
- For safety reasons, please keep children and pets out of the construction area
- During the day, please park your car(s) on the street so we may have access to your driveway for trucks, tools and project materials
- Our construction crews appreciate access to electrical outlets for power tools.
- If applicable, remove lawn and patio furniture from the immediate work area
- Please take down any pictures, clocks, and hanging items from interior and exterior walls so they are not damaged during construction
- After the completion of your home improvement project, please take care when mowing your lawn. We do our best to clean up but a stray nail is easy to miss.
